Narrative Description of Indicator

Indicator 8: Parent Involvement

This indicator assesses the percentage of parents with a child receiving special education services who report that schools facilitated parent involvement as a means of improving services and results for children with disabilities.

In FFY 2016, the DSE changed the state methodology for this indicator and reset the baseline and targets. The new analytic methodology uses a “Percent of Maximum” approach, instead of the previous method of Rasch Analysis. For FFY 2023, 77.65% of preschool parents and 69.46% of school-age parents reported that schools facilitated parent involvement as a means of improving services and results for children with disabilities. During the FFY 2023 performance period, the MSDE, DSE did not meet its target for either age group.
