Narrative Description of Indicator

Indicator 8: Parent Involvement

This indicator assesses the percentage of parents with a child receiving special education services who report that schools facilitated parent involvement as a means of improving services and results for children with disabilities.

In FFY 2016, the DEI/SES changed the state methodology for this indicator and reset the baseline and targets. The new analytic methodology uses a “Percent of Maximum” approach, instead of the previous method of Rasch Analysis. For FFY 2022, 79.97% of preschool parents and 68.25% of school-age parents reported that schools facilitated parent involvement as a means of improving services and results for children with disabilities. During the FFY 2022 performance period, the MSDE, DEI/SES did not meet its target for either age group.
