Narrative Description of Indicator

Indicator 12:  Early Childhood Transition
 
Local education agencies and public agencies reported 98.75% of children referred by Part C prior to age 3, who were found eligible for Part B, had an IEP developed and implemented by their third birthday.   
 
The MSDE, DEI/SES identified twenty-three (23) students with "unacceptable reasons for delays." The unacceptable reason for each student's delay was identified as paperwork errors, administrative errors, and staffing.

The range of delays were:

  • 1 to 15 Days = 4 students
  • 16 to 30 Days = 3 students
  • 31 to 45 Days = 5 student
  • Beyond 45 Days = 11 students

This information is used by the MSDE Monitoring Staff to assist local education agencies and public agencies in analyzing data and in providing technical assistance. The MSDE data management and program staff worked closely with local education agencies’ staff to ensure the integrity of the data reported in FFY 2022.
